IoT based Intelligent Gas Leakage Detector
The system will connect to the available WIFI network and sense Gas leakage using MQ5 or equivalent Gas sensor module. The system will continuously monitor the level of LPG gas present in the air.
While monitoring, if the value of gas in the air is within the set threshold then the RGB LED on the circuit will glow green indicating a safe environment.
And whenever the gas exceeds the predefined limit then the RGB LED will glow red and simultaneously, the gas solenoid valve will turn off the flow of LPG gas with an alarming signal and update the current state over the IoT web platform.
This Arduino and IoT project will be useful in detecting gas leakage in homes, hotels, and LPG gas storage areas.
Hardware / Components Used:
- Arduino Uno
- Liquid Crystal Display
- ESP Wi-Fi module
- Dc fan to visualized the gas valve
- Gas sensor MQ5
- Buzzer
- Some passive components
- Home WiFi network

Fingerprint Door Locking system for confidential rooms and locker space
This fingerprint door locking system has been developed to secure any confidential places. It uses a biometric sensor array to detect fingerprints and then compares them with those stored in a database.
If there is a match, the lock will open otherwise the door remains closed and further attempts trigger an alarm. The project construction comes in two flavors; a single module hard-coded system and a networked database system.
Hardware / Components used:
- NodeMCU (the network database version)
- Arduino Uno (hard-coded version)
- Liquid Crystal Display
- Magnetic Locker
- Fingerprint Sensor
- Active WiFi Network (the network database version)
- 4 x 4 Keypad
- Some passive components
Wireless Patient Health Monitoring System with emergency alerts
This project aims to develop an innovative wireless patient monitoring system using WiFi or Bluetooth technology. The system will consist of two parts; one part will be mounted on the patients’ beds or worn by patients and the other part will be connected to a microcontroller.
We have also published a detailed list of some Innovative Project Ideas for Engineering Students; check it out.
The microcontroller on the other hand will synchronise with a patient database and the monitoring system. The system will monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse rate, temperature, and respiratory rate.
In case of any abnormality, the system will send out an alert to the doctor through text message or instant push notification. Also, the system will send an alarm signal to a receiving device installed on the duty nurse’s desk.
Hardware / Components used:
- NodeMCU Microcontroller
- A PC connected to a local area or remote network
- Active WiFi Network
- GSM module for Arduino
- Some passive components
Alcohol Sensing Alert System with Engine Locking (design and virtualization)
This is a new alcohol-sensing device initially developed by researchers at the University of California, Berkeley. It consists of a sensor that detects alcohol vapours in drivers’ breaths.
If the concentration of alcohol exceeds a certain threshold, the device sends an alert to the appropriate authority’s smartphone via SMS with the location of the driver. The device also locks the engine when the driver is intoxicated.
Hardware / Components used:
- Arduino Uno Microcontroller
- Alcohol level sensor
- GSM module for Arduino
- Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)
- Some passive components
Fingerprint Authenticated Device Switcher for laboratory and sensitive equipment
A fingerprint-authenticated device switcher was designed to prevent unauthorized access to laboratory and sensitive equipment. This device allows users to switch devices ON with only authorized fingerprints.
The project protects users of laboratory equipment from accidental operation by an unauthorized person. It also prevents accidents in heavy industries by allowing only authorized people to start heavy-duty machines.
Hardware / Components used:
- Arduino Uno Microcontroller
- Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)
- Solid State or Electromagnetic Relay
- Fingerprint Sensor
- Some passive components
